Why STAY HERE

Lavishly appointed with handcrafted furniture, six bedrooms (five with en suite), the hacienda can accommodate up to 13 guests.

Comprised of three main buildings dating to 1850, the hacienda was used for the production of sisal in the late 1800’s. Since that time, it has been expertly restored by renowned Mexican architect Salvador Reyes Rios and his partner and wife Josefina Larrain.

The main atrium of the hacienda, opened on both sides during renovation, once housed the hacienda’s main engine room. Formerly bustling with the clang of machinery from an industrial age, it has been transformed into a dramatic living space for entertaining and lounging at the heart of the property.

Spilling out on both sides with courtyards, lawn, and furnished with comfortable sofas and dining space for 10 to 12, the main atrium makes an intimate gathering spot for your party, reunion or wedding.

To the east sits Casa Nueva. Housing three bedrooms, all are complete with ensuites, A/C and soaring 26’ high ceilings. One of these bedrooms, the grand master suite, comes complete with sunken lounge area, private courtyard terrace and luxurious outdoor bath.

To the west, Casa Antigua, the original Casa de Maquinas now houses two bedrooms and a sleeping loft in addition to the home’s colonial-style kitchen and indoor living area. Both bedrooms have ensuites, one of which is located in private garden courtyard cleverly created from an old water tank.

On the other side of Casa Antigua is the 40 foot pool, accessible either through the house or via the courtyard tunnel under the hacienda’s 85 ft. chimney. Lined with a mosaic of seashells that hint at the water beyond, the tunnel opens to the pool and tropical garden of palm trees and gingers.

A steel and bamboo pergola with lounge chairs and hammocks shade an adjacent patio for an afternoon of swimming and relaxation. Beyond the pool, in a hidden garden you find the regulation size bocce ball court.

Returning to the main atrium, a spiral staircase takes you up to the rooftop terrace where you can watch the sun go down and survey the tropical jungle.
